INDORE: “Rs 432 crore Narmada-Kshipra link project would be formally inaugurated by former deputy prime minister LK Advani in presence of leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, national party president Rajnath Singh and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley in Ujjaini on February 25,” said chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
He was addressing mediapersons at ‘Sangam Sthal’ in Ujjaini after the first ever Cabinet meeting held outside Bhopal on Tuesday.
He said, “Sangam Sthal and areas around it will be developed for tourism promotion on the lines of Omkareshwar. Urban development minister Kailash Vijavargiya has been asked to draft plan for the same.”Chouhan said, “Lifting Narmada water up to 348 metres to Kshipra was an uphill task and to many, it appeared impossible when we began working on the project. But the dream has finally been realized. Narmada would also be linked with Gambhir, Pravati and Kali Sindhi in phases.”
“Linking of rivers would help in irrigation of more than 16 lakh acres of land and drinking water will be made available to more than 3,000 villages spread across the dry region,” he added.
“Narendra Modiji will be coming on February 26 to Neemuch to dedicate the biggest solar power plant in Asia to the country,” said chief minister adding that Modi was emerging as a favourite PM candidate across the country.
“Infosys executive chairman NR Narayana Murthy would visit Indore on February 24 to lay foundation stone for the IT giant’s campus,” he said.
